Vision
The vision of Global Training Network is to provide quality biblical and theological training to thousands of indigenous church planters, pastors and Christian leaders throughout the Majority World, so that these pastors and leaders can then effectively equip and lead their congregations to evangelize and disciple their communities for Christ.
Some helpful facts that continue to fuel our vision:
"Today, at least 75% of the world's Christians are non-Western, or living in what is called the 'Majority World.' This means Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. But 80% of Majority World pastors have no formal biblical training." (Langham Partnership)
"The East African nation of Uganda has a crisis, though not one we might suppose. The plight of AIDS, the number of orphans, wars and child abductions are continual threats…But behind these problems lies a dearth of leadership in the church. Most church leaders in Uganda today have no formal training, a condition that can lead to abuses in power, false teaching and even a false gospel." (The Gospel Coalition International Outreach)
Lack of leadership – and lack of trained leadership – can lead to a false gospel. Scripture commands pastors to "teach what accords with sound doctrine…" (Titus 2:1 ESV). The risk of poorly trained pastors and leaders can result in "a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you…" (Galatians 1:8 ESV).
Training is vitally needed – but for most Majority World pastors and leaders, the barriers to quality training are great:
• Limited availability
• Family obligations
• Persecution
Global Training Network seeks to overcome these barriers and meet the growing need for biblical and theological training throughout the Majority World. GTN believes that the most effective way to reach and disciple a nation is by training national pastors and leaders – who already know the language, culture, and customs – so that they can reach and disciple their own people for Jesus Christ.
In the early 1900s, William Borden (led to Christ by D.L. Moody) died in Egypt on his way to Asia as a missionary. Borden asked, "If you see ten men trying to lift a log, nine of them on the light end and one on the heavy end, where will you step in to help?" As one Christian pastor from the Democratic Republic of Congo said after receiving GTN's training… "I am a much better, more effective person and pastor since I received GTN's training…not only am I the one testifying to the significant changes in my life and ministry, but the people I lead are testifying to it also."
Growth and Fruitfulness Under God's Blessing
Since 2004, God has used Global Training Network to:
• Train over 330,000 pastors and Christian leaders around the world.
• Teach and serve an estimated 33 million people through the pastors trained by GTN (each pastor serves a church of approximately 100).
As pastors have been trained and empowered, people within their congregations have been saved, discipled, and taught the Word of God – and communities have been transformed by the power of Jesus Christ.
"What excites me most is that over and over, when we go back to many of these same cities and villages, we see pastors that are more mature, congregations that have grown deeper in their walks with Christ, and even entire villages that have been transformed because of a church that has learned ‘what the church is supposed to be and do’ within a community."(Paul Madson)
Moreover, since 2004, GTN has been committed to these ministry values:
• Grace-Oriented
• Kingdom Minded
• Spiritually Thriving
• Indigenous in Practice
• Committed to Multiplying
These accomplishments and ministry distinctives position GTN for even greater growth and effectiveness under God's blessing…
Seizing Wide-Open, Double-Door Invitations
With work in more than 84 countries worldwide, GTN has wide-open, double-door invitations to train pastors in another 10 countries. God, by His grace and for His glory, continues to expand the influence of GTN around the world. Global Training Network is committed to fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:34-40) as we provide training for pastors and leaders around the world. These pastors and leaders then teach, train and disciple the men, women and children under their influence and care. These indigenous Christians then continue the process of carrying out the Great Commission and the Great Commandment throughout their extended families, neighborhoods, villages, cities and entire nations!
Our Grand Vision is ultimately found in Revelation 7:9-12. This is what gets us up every morning with passion and drive…This is what motivates us day in and day out….
"After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’ And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, ‘Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.’"
That is a vision not only worth living for, but worth dying for!
