What Our Global Partners Wish We Understood: Surfacing Our Cultural Blind Spots

Webinar with Percy Muleba and Doug Vinez

Two GTN staff members, Percy Muleba of Zambia and Doug Vinez from the land of North Carolina, first met in 2008 in Zambia when Percy was in his late 20s. During this webinar, they will share their cross-cultural journey together… how they discovered that a deepening friendship provided both of them a platform for growth as well as the lubrication to deal with cultural blind spots.

Come learn from the cultural collisions that they navigated: communal loyalty vs. individual initiative, structure & content vs. relationship & learning, humility vs. “the expert arrives.” You’ll get to hear their backstory… which wasn’t always pretty! Come ready to have some of your cultural blind spots exposed!

Training Pivots: Ways to Adjust to the Learning Capacity of Your Students

Webinar with Sandra Bauer

Have you ever had that awful realization: “My material is way over the head of these pastors and leaders. What do I do now???"  Or, perhaps you found that the mix of learners in the room ran from those with low levels of literacy to those who were highly educated. How do you span that wide gulf? What adjustments should you make?

These are real-life challenges that we face around the world. Sandra Bauer will help us sort through these issues and help deepen our capacity to make appropriate adjustments on-the-fly. We’ll explore ways to figure out the learning capacity of those in the room (without embarrassing them) even before your training begins. We’ll also discuss how you might scale your content and methodology to match your learners’ needs.

Sandra's 40 years of teaching experience is undergirded with advanced studies in education. As a trainer with GTN, Sandra is able to marry the theoretical with practical, on-the-ground experience. Bring your real-life examples to this interactive webinar that will help sharpen your training skills.

We’re called to generosity. We’re also called to foster sustainability. How do we square that circle? How do we help our global partners without hurting them and undermining their ministries? How might the Bible inform these questions? What are the parameters and principles that should guide us and our use of money overseas? Join us for a conversation around this complex yet critical subject.

Join us as Paul shares lessons learned… things that went well and things that didn’t go so well!  Paul will also share with us:  “if I had it to do over again, I would...” How will Paul’s lessons learned compare with the lessons that you’ve learned???
