About Stuart
Stuart lives in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and has been serving the Lord as a missionary since 1998. His beloved wife Beth went to be with the Lord in April 2021, while the family was serving God as missionaries to Chinese people living in the UK. The remaining family members returned to the US at the end of 2022. Stuart and Beth had two children, now adults: Jack and Kylie.
Stuart graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in German Language and Literature and a B.S. in Architectural Engineering. He later studied for the M.S.C.E. degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Washington, and worked as a Professional Engineer for about six years following his graduation. He holds an M.A. degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in Biblical Studies, and a D.Min. degree in Missions from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Stuart also studied Mandarin Chinese in Taiwan, and the language has proven to be of great value in sharing Christ with Chinese students.
After responding to God's call to mission in 1997, Stuart served in Taiwan for eight years, following up new believers who had trusted Christ while studying abroad, while also sharing the gospel with Taiwanese young people through ESL classes. He met Beth soon after arrival, and the couple were married in 2003. After hearing of the struggles of new believers returning home to China, Stuart and Beth felt God's call to move to Hong Kong in 2006, where they spent the next 2-1/2 years working with Chinese students enrolled in Hong Kong's universities. During that time, they had many opportunities to travel into the Mainland. Stuart completed his D.Min. degree at Trinity at the end of 2011, and the Bullingtons then moved to the UK to share God's good news with Chinese students and immigrants in the north of England. The Bullington family lived and served in Sheffield, UK for 8-1/2 years.
For recreation, Stuart enjoys swimming, jogging, ping-pong, and pickleball, and loves to play chess, Settlers of Catan, Sequence, and other board games. His son Jack is a very talented chef and restaurant manager. His daughter Kylie, who has Down syndrome, is the joy of the family. She loves to collect American Girl dolls and watch the Wiggles, an Australian children's music and dance group.
