About Joel & Kathy
Before joining GTN in 2006, Joel was a pastor for 21 years - the majority of which were spent on staff at Overlake Christian Church in Redmond, WA. Prior to his position at Overlake, Joel served as College Pastor at Northwest Community Church, in Phoenix, AZ, for five years. He is a graduate of Arizona Christian University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Missions and Bible. Joel has always had a heart to see the nations of the world reached with the Good News of Jesus Christ. He has traveled to 52 countries...training and encouraging pastors and leaders in 23. Joel also serves as Executive Vice President of GTN, along with Carl Green. He and his wife Kathy attend Cascade Community Church in Monroe, WA where Joel volunteers as the Missions Pastor and serves as an elder. They have been married for 42 years and live close to their two married sons and five grandchildren.
Joel’s life verse is Colossians 1:28-29 which says, “He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.”

Vision Leadership Institute - Ethiopia
Vision Leadership Institute is a mobile 2- year training program. VLI offers college level theological education and pastoral training for existing ministry leaders in local Ethiopian churches. Launched in 2011 in Ethiopia, VLI has trained and has graduated over 1,000 leaders. Currently, VLI has 420 ministry leaders enrolled in the program with training in six cities.
