About Jim & Carol

Jim and Carol have been providing care for ministry leaders for over 26 years through counseling, encouragement, mentoring, and prayer support. Teaching on marriage through retreats and seminars has also been an important aspect of their ministry. In addition, Jim (with Carol’s occasional involvement) has taught collegiate-level classes on Biblical counseling, as well as marriage and family counseling. Forgiveness, suffering, church health, and spiritual gifts are also among some of the topics Jim has taught to adult classes at churches they’ve been involved in. His past ministry includes serving as an interim pastor for churches experiencing relational challenges. Jim and Carol have a passion for coming alongside hurting people struggling with life issues, including relational challenges with God and/or people.

They met and profoundly impacted each other at a singles retreat in September of 1985, resulting in marriage only 9 months later! (It was Jim’s first and last singles retreat as a single!) Now married for over 40 years, Jim and Carol have three adult children, two sons-in-love, and five precious “grand treasures.” They both enjoy hanging out with people (especially family), taking walks, reading, and playing board games.

Jim earned his M.A. in Biblical Counseling from Grace Theological Seminary (1987) and his M. Div. from Multnomah Biblical Seminary (1999). Carol has a master’s degree in Elementary Education. They joined GTN in the spring of 2026 with a prayerful desire to serve fellow GTN staff members through member care, as well as teaching overseas through Zoom and/or in person.
