About Steve & Sherrie
Steve Pettit has served as a pastor, church planter, leadership mentor, and global ministry strategist for more than four decades. After receiving his M.Div. degree from Capital Bible Seminary in Washington, D.C., he pastored a church in Rockville, Maryland, for 21 years before serving as a global strategist in the Lynchburg, Virginia area, equipping Christian leaders and ministries around the world.
Steve and his wife, Sherrie, have also owned businesses in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Florida, giving them valuable experience in both ministry and the marketplace. Steve has served on the boards of Sports Outreach Institute, Big World Project, Freedom 4/24, Proven Men Ministries, and presently serves on the Board of Directors for Gospel Link.
Today, Steve serves as President of Vida Sports Inc., an international Christian ministry based in Bradenton, Florida. Vida Sports exists to bring the hope of Jesus Christ to vulnerable children by using sports—especially soccer—as a bridge to build trust, share the gospel, disciple young people, and provide practical care. The ministry focuses on reaching street children and children living in impoverished slums, helping rescue them from cycles of poverty, abuse, exploitation, and hopelessness while pointing them toward a future found in Christ.
Steve and Sherrie have been married for 50 years and are blessed with four children and seventeen grandchildren. They enjoy serving together in their local church, walks on the beach, fishing, pickleball, writing, and visiting their grandchildren.
Steve said, "My heart’s passion is to reach street kids and children living in the world’s poorest slums with the love and hope of Jesus Christ. This work cannot be sustained apart from a healthy church. Serving with GTN allows me to expand my efforts to train pastors to lead vibrant, biblically grounded churches committed to effective outreach and discipleship in their spheres of influence."
